Preparations: The penis or testis can be obtained at any time. After
removing the fat, the testis is dried in the shade.
Properties & Taste: Salty and warm.
Meridian: Kidney.
Functions: To tonify the kidneys and
strengthen yang.
Indications & Combinations:
Deficiency of kidney yang manifested as impotence, aversion to cold and cold
extremities. Dog testis (Huanggoushen) is used with Wolfberry fruit (Gouqizi),
Morinda root (Bajitian) and Dadder seed (Tusizi).
Dosage: 1.5-3 g (for pills).
Cautions & Contraindications: This
substance is contraindicated in cases with internal heat with excessive fire.

Pet owners sometimes don't become aware of this issue until a complication arises. Particularly when older dogs who have been adopted and are presumed to have undergone neutering. Testicular torsion, in which one or both testicles are twisted on the connective tissue, is a potential problem. This is a severe ailment that hurts the dog greatly. Even worse, testicular cancer in dogs with cryptorchidism is 10 times more likely to occur. Why? Because the testicles are stuck in the inguinal canal or abdomen rather than descending and are exposed to a warmer environment than the scrotum, which is located outside the body.
