Bulbus Fritillariae Thunbergii is produced mainly in Jinxian county in Zhejiang province. Collected in summer when the plant has withered, the bulb is washed and dried for use.
Properties  Taste & Meridians:
Bitter in flavor, cold in property, acts on the Lung and Heart channels.
Functions:
Removes Heat and resolves phlegm, dispels accumulation.
Indications & Combinations:
1. For cough due to invasion of Wind Heat or phlegm Fire in the Lung, it is used with Folium Mori (Sang Ye), Fructus Arctii (Niu Bang Zi), Radix Peucedani (Qian Hu), and Semen Armeniacae Amarum (Ku Xing Ren).
2. For scrofula, it is used with Radix Scrophulariae (Xuan Shen) and Concha Ostreae (Mu Li). For breast carbuncles, it is used with Herba Taraxaci (Pu Gong Ying), Radix Trichosanthis (Tian Hua Fen), and Fructus Forsythiae Suspensae (Lian Qiao). For lung abscesses, it is used with Herba Houttuynia Cordatae Cordatae (Yu Xing Cao), fresh Rhizoma Phragmitis (Lu Gen), and Semen Coicis Lachryma-jobi (Yi Yi Ren).
Dosage and administration:
3–10 g, ground into powder and taken with water, 1–1.5 g each time.
Precautions:
It is antagonistic to Radix Aconite.
