English Name:

The White Flowered Scaphyglottis.

Description: 

With superposed, linear, sulcate, obtusely angled, lightly campanulate, elliptic in cross section, stiff, light green stems with aerial roots arising from the base of each stem section carrying 2 articulated sheathing, subopposite, oblong or lanceolate, unequally bilobed, carinate midvein leaves that is conduplicate at the base and blooms on a terminal, single flowered inflorescence occuring in the spring and summer.

Distribution:

Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico Southeast, Peru, Venezuela. 

Ecological:

In wet montane forests at elevations of 1000 m as a slender, medium to large, hot to warm growing epiphyte or terrestrial .

Flowering times:

Blooms in the spring and summer.

Flower size:

1.0 cm.

Cultivation:

Grow in diffused bright light and keep in cool to warm temperatures. Keep humidity from 40 to 70%. Water regularly during growing season. The potting media should be a little moist in between waterings. To prevent rot, avoid water from touching leaves. Reduce watering during the winter. Pot plants in 75% fine bark and 25% perlite or in full sphagnum moss.
