The native range of this species is China (Guangxi) to Vietnam. It is a shrub and grows primarily in the subtropical biome.

Distribution: 

Vinh Phuc (Tam Dao). The tree grows naturally in mixed forests, hillsides, humid places, at an altitude of 200-1000 m.
