The native range of this species is Indian Subcontinent to China (S. Yunnan, W. Guangxi) and Peninsula Malaysia. It is a tree and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Uses: 

Cure cough, expectorant (shell).

Distribution: 

Ninh Binh (Cuc Phuong), Quang Tri, Kon Tum, Tay Ninh, Dong Nai, An Giang. The tree grows naturally in evergreen forests, at altitudes below 1000 m.
