The native range of this species is Himalaya to S. China and Indo-China, S. Nansei-shoto to Taiwan. It is an epiphyte or lithophyte and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Chronic hepatitis (whole plant).

Distribution: 

Lao Cai (Sa Pa), Vinh Phuc (Tam Dao), Thua Thien Hue (Bach Ma). The tree grows naturally in the forest, at an altitude of 400 - 1,500m.
