The native range of this species is Himalaya to Japan and Central Pacific. It is a liana and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Synonym:

Cocculus sarmentosus (Lour.) Diels

Scientific name: 

Cocculus sarmentosus (Lour.) Diels – Nephroia sarmentosa Lour.

Uses: 

Pharyngeal swelling, edematous nephritis, urethral stones, sciatic nerve pain, painful injuries, poisonous boils (Root).

Distribution: 

Quang Nam, Da Nang, Ha Tay, Ninh Binh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Lam Dong. Trees grow naturally scattered along the forest edge.

Flower and fruit season: 

November-April
