The native range of this species is S. China to Peninsula Malaysia. It is a climber and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Uses:
Tonic. Treats nervous breakdown, malaria, stomachache, intestinal cramps, abnormal digestion, colds, diarrhea, appendicitis, chronic nephritis, injuries from falls (drink decoction of roots). Crushed leaves are applied to treat snake bites.
Distribution:
The plant grows naturally in hills and shrublands in most midland and coastal provinces.
