The native range of this species is E. Bolivia to Brazil, Tropical Africa, W. Yemen. It is a shrub or tree and grows primarily in the seasonally dry tropical biome.

Uses:
The leaves are used as medicine to treat diabetes, malaria, high blood pressure, dysentery, sore throat, and liver diseases.
