Uses: 

The extract of berberine is used to treat intestinal diseases. The whole plant is used to treat tuberculosis, fever, back and knee pain, dizziness, tinnitus, and insomnia. Combined with other herbs, it treats allergic dermatitis, enteritis with diarrhea, jaundice, and eye pain. In India, the fruit is used to treat dysentery and indigestion.

Distribution: 

The plant grows naturally in the Lang Bian mountain region – Da Lat (Lam Dong province). It is a rare species (EN) listed in the Vietnamese Red Book.

Flowering and Fruiting Season: 

January-March; April-May
