The native range of this species is China (SE. Yunnan) to N. Vietnam. It is a shrub or tree and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Synonym:

Gomphandra tonkinensis Gagnep.

Vietnamese names: 

Bui béo, cây béo trắng, bổ béo, tiết nùng, lô nội.

Family: 

Icacinaceae

Uses: 

Nourishes the body, promotes the production of bodily fluids, supports spleen health, stimulates appetite, acts as a mild laxative, and promotes diuresis and lactation.
