Citrus hystrix DC. fruit peel essential oil extracted from Citrus hystrix DC. collected in Tinh Bien district, An Giang province was evaluated for their antibacterial and toxicity in vivo.  Results showed that the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of antibacterial activities against Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus mutans and Moraxella catarrhalis by using disc-diffusion method are 1%, 2%, 1%, 4% and 0,5%, respectively. Citrus hystrix DC. fruit peel essential oil is not toxic for experimented mice and mice hematopoietic function, liver function and kidney function were not changed. These results suggested to further research and development of products against bacteria and various respiratory pathogens at the various activity levels from  Citrus hystrix essential oil.
