Evaluation of Blood Glucose Lowering Effects of the Extract from ST Remedy

The effects of a water extract (2,5 : 1) of ST remedy on plasma glucose were investigated in normoglycemic and diabetic mice. Orally repeated administration of the extract at the dose of 5 g/kg mice and 10 g/kg mice for 3 and 4 weeks significantly induced lower plasma glucose levels compared to controls in normoglycemic mice. The treatment of the extract at the dose of 5 g/kg or 10 g/kg for 10 to 20 consecutive days significantly attenuated fasted blood glucose and hyperglycemic in oral glucose tolerance test in alloxan-induced diabetic mice. In adrenalin -induced diabetic mice, blood glucose was significantly decreased in  in treated groups at dose of 10 g/kg as compared to the diabetic control. These results suspected the use of ST extract to manage diabetes mellitus.
