The native range of this species is Tropical & Subtropical Asia. It is a perennial and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Uses: 

The H'Mong ethnic group in Muong Long commune, Ky Son district, Nghe An province use leaves pounded to drink water, and the residue used to treat poisonous snake bites.


Distribution: Cao Bang, Lang Son, Bac Can, Nghe An, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa. The grass is 30-100cm tall, growing scattered in moist forests, valleys, and stream banks.
